Edit Write Online's roots go back to Edit Write Word Processing, a small business created in 1993 by R. L. Kieffer, which provided high quality editing, writing and word-processing services to the New York City community including academic, business, entertainment and legal professionals. Edit Write Online is currently located in New Jersey and offers electronic English language editing and writing services to clients worldwide.

Founder and owner, R. L. Kieffer, is a freelance artist and writer with experience in every written form, from poetry to essays, legal briefs to articles. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude in English and writing from Columbia University and also holds a Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education. Ms. Kieffer has experience as a proofreader and copyeditor in the consumer research, advertising and publishing fields. She taught English to adult immigrants and in public and private schools in New York City, and is attentive to the needs of non-native English writers or ESL students. Having knowledge and experience in the area of special education and disabled children's rights and advocacy, Ms. Kieffer is also sensitive to the needs of those whose learning disabilities interfere with academic and writing skills. R. L. Kieffer is also a talented fine-art painter who has exhibited her work in numerous prestigious art shows nationwide. In both painting and writing, Ms. Kieffer applies honesty of expression, a passion for creativity tempered with technical skill, and a keen eye for detail.
